Send files without signing up
By the WispFile team · Updated 24 September 2026
To send files without signing up, use a service that gives you a link straight away with no account and no email address, such as WispFile. WeTransfer, Dropbox and Google Drive all need an account to send. A direct transfer does not need one, because there is nothing stored in your name to manage.
Key facts
- WeTransfer has required a free account to send since November 2024.
- WispFile needs no account, email address or app on either side.
- Without an account, nothing ties the transfer to you by name.
- An optional account adds history and inboxes; it never becomes required.
How it works with WispFile
- Open wispfile.com and add files or a folder.
- Choose how long the link lasts: until you stop sharing, one download, or 24 hours.
- Copy the link, or send it with the QR code or your own email app.
- Keep the tab open; the receiver downloads straight from your device.
What to check before trusting a no-sign-up service
- Where the file goes. “No account” can still mean your file sits on a server for days. Look for “nothing stored”.
- Who holds the key. End-to-end encryption means only the link holder can read the file. See what end-to-end really means.
- What it logs. A clear privacy policy says what is kept and for how long.
Frequently asked questions
Why do other services require an account?
Mostly to limit abuse of free storage and to market paid plans. A service that stores nothing has less reason to know who you are.
Does the receiver need an account?
No. They open the link in their browser and download.
Is it still private without an account?
Yes. Files are end-to-end encrypted with a key that exists only in the link, after the #, which browsers never send to a server.
